For: Finding a job in Germany

🎓 Student Visa

For: University admission in Germany
Duration: 2 years (renewable)
Work: 120 full days or 240 half days/year
After study: 18-month job search visa
Financial: €11,208/year blocked account
Tuition: FREE at public unis!

💼 Work Visa (§18)

For: Skilled workers with job offer
Types: §18a (vocational), §18b (academic)
Requirement: Recognized qualification
No salary minimum (unlike Blue Card)
PR path: 4 years

Blue Card holders: No German needed for spouse

🛤️ Pathway to Permanent Residence

  • Blue Card holders: 21 months with B1 German, or 33 months with A1 German
  • Regular work visa: 4 years (was 5) with B1 German and pension contributions
  • Students: 2 years after graduation (with B1 German + full-time job)
  • Niederlassungserlaubnis: Permanent Residence Permit — unlimited right to live and work
